Doris Saunders – NP

Dorie Saunders, a native Houstonian, is a certified Nurse Practitioner at Northwest Houston Heart Center with many years of experience in the management of cardiovascular disease in both outpatient clinic and hospital settings. She manages patients in office, performs endovenous ablations, directs the coumadin clinic and rounds with the Cardiology team on hospitalized patients. She also serves as Sub Investigator in clinical research trials. She believes in providing the very best to all her patients in a nurturing environment and this belief confirms itself in the quality of care she delivers.

Dorie began her nursing career in 1999 after graduating from the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center with her baccalaureate degree. She worked in a variety of settings as a registered nurse including critical care, emergency medicine, intermediate medical care and oncology. In 2005, she decided to return to school for her masters in nursing and work as a nurse practitioner. She attended Texas Woman’s University and graduated with her masters of science with honors in 2008 as a family nurse practitioner. She is a strong advocate for continuing one’s education and is currently enrolled at Texas Woman’s University working toward obtaining her doctorate in nursing practice. Dorie has particular interest in congestive heart failure and women’s cardiovascular disease.

When Dorie is not busy either working or attending classes, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She loves to travel, practice yoga, and read.
