What's New

Northwest Houston Heart Center is pleased to announce the addition of the state-of-the-art cardiac PET scanner.

Cardiac PET scanner is emerging as the gold standard and most reliable noninvasive cardiac test in diagnosing coronary heart disease. Early detection of coronary heart disease is vital, as the early treatment of heart disease can prevent heart attacks.

Northwest Houston Heart Center is one of only three centers in the Houston area equipped with a dedicated cardiac PET scanner for precise diagnosis of coronary heart disease. Clinical studies have shown that cardiac PET scan is more accurate than other tests such as electrocardiogram (ECG) stress testing or single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT or traditional nuclear stress testing) in diagnosing coronary heart disease.

Ask your doctor about a cardiac PET scan if you are having these tests or suspected to have coronary heart disease, or call 281-351-4911 to make an appointment with our physicians.

Houston Heart Center (or HCC for short) employs a team of experienced, skilled Houston cardiologists to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels. Cardiologists undergo a rigorous period of medical training that includes four years of medical school, three years of training in internal medicine, and a minimum of three years as a cardiology specialist. In addition, they must pass an exam by the American Board of Internal Medicine that will enable them to become a certified cardiologist. Along with their high degree of training, they are supported by a Houston cardiology department that is among the area’s most advanced with respect to medical technologies and techniques.

When is it a good time to visit a Houston cardiologist? We recommend doing so immediately if one or more of the following symptoms present themselves: chest pains or discomfort, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, dizziness, sweating and nausea. Depending on their duration and severity, these could be possible signs of a heart condition that should be referred to our Houston cardiology department. It’s also worth mentioning that some heart problems don’t exhibit clear symptoms, which is why other health risk factors, such as age, weight and family history, should also be considered. In short, don’t take a risk—if you’re in doubt, get it checked out!

When you schedule an appointment with HHC, you’ll have the privilege of being served by one of the most talented and dedicated team of cardiologists in Houston. In addition, we offer other advantages unmatched by other heart health providers. Most notably, we’re one of only three Houston-area cardiology centers with cardiac PET scanners for the detection of coronary heart disease. Along with detection, we help patients treat and manage any potential heart conditions by developing a comprehensive plan that includes medication, a diet and exercise regimen, and other lifestyle changes. Take the first step towards long-term heart health by visiting HHC today!
